August 18, 2001; West Salem, WI - Brad Powell held off several late race challenges and came away the victor in the Kwik Trip 25 at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. Powell started in the third row outside and slowly picked his way through the field, passing Steve Carlson on the high side on lap seven for the lead.
Powell's lead was challenged several times by Carlson, but Carlson faded in the closing laps, giving Powell his third win of the season. "The crew really had the car setup tonight. I just used the second groove to get the job done. We've tweaked the car the last couple of weeks and now we got it where it needs to be", stated a jubilant Powell. In the Grand National Sportsman division, Corey Jankowski came away with an impressive win as he weaved his way through traffic to score top honors. Randy Steinhoff and Tony Ciano rounded out the top three. The Thunderstox division main event went to John Olson. Olson survived several near collisions to come home with the main event win. |
