Last Turn Pass Thrills the Fans at LaCrosse as Holzhausen Wins! By Pam Haller

June 15, 2002;  West Salem, WI - Steve Holzhausen of Bangor took the lead with a quarter a lap to go when he passed Brent Kirchner in turn four to take the checkered flag Saturday night.  Kirchner led the race for twenty-four and three quarter laps until the determined Hozhausen took the low side in turn four to clinch the Bob Johnson Lubricants 25.

Hozhausen was hoping his new John Scott engine would get him at least in the top four.  With his hard driving and an excellent running engine, Steve Holzhausen ended up taking the win and will move up from the 14th spot in the points race.  

Mindoro native Troy Goodenough took a hard battled third place finish over Kevin Nuttleman who took fifth. Nuttleman, last weeks feature winner moved up 10 spots to take fourth place.  Brad Powell the LaCrosse native who is currently in third place in the points took fifth.  There was hard racing al night with only two cautions that involved some minor crashes.

Trent Boettcher wins the Bob Johnson Lubricants Sportsman division 15 with a sizable lead over the rest of the pack.  Boettcher of LaCrescent who is in 8th place in the points standings took the win comfortably Saturday night.  That wasn't the case for the rest of the top ten who were battling door to door and bumper to bumper the whole race. 

During lap 15 Tony Ciano and Dan Gilster swapped positions numerous times until the finish line were Ciano triumphed over Dan Gilster to take third place.   Gilster took fourth and Chand Wehling of Stoddard took the number five spot in a hard battle with Tomah's Corey Jankoski.  Current points leader Jeff Baker held the number two spot the whole race. 

Saturday night in the Thunderstox division Chad Rosendahl of Hokah won the Bob Johnson Lubricants 15 after starting the race in the tenth position.  Ron Heller of Onalaska took the second place finish after starting the race in the number twelve spot.  Jason Bolster of Sparta ended up with a third place finish.  Points leader Scott Voss ended up with a hard fought  fourth.  Melrose's Jes Tenner who won Saturdays Thunderstox Bud Dash ended up taking fifth.
