Rain Shortens La Crosse Program!

April 24, 2004;  West Salem, WI - A huge night of racing was ended prematurely for the second week in a row due to rain. There were 169 cars that turned out to race in all four divisions before the light, persistent rain forced an end to the evening’s schedule.

For the second consecutive week, Charlie Menard turned the fastest lap in Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Models qualifying at 98.165 MPH. He was followed in order by Kevin Nuttleman, rookie driver Sam Andersen, with Blake Horstman and Tony Bagstad rounding out the top five.

With the points earned in qualifying, Menard assumes the season point lead, by three over second place Kevin Nuttleman. Heat winners were John towner and Bill Niles, while the Bud Dash wins went to J. Herbst and Andy Burgess.

In the Ray Hutson Chevrolet Sportsman Division, Rob Mahan averaged 86-.873 MPH for his qualifying effort to lead the field. Rounding out the top five were Chris Skrede, Jeff Baker, Randy Steinhoff and John Olson. Chris Skrede maintains a slim five point lead over Jeff Baker in the overall season standings.

In the United Auto Supply Thunderstox division, all four heat races were concluded prior to the showers. Winning heat races were Craig Chandler, Emily Sue Steck, Matt Inglett and Tony Wheeler. Andy Moore maintains his lead in the season’s standings.

The Features Sports Bar and Grill Hornets were on the track for the first time this season, and had 67 cars racing in four heat races. Winning those heat races were Pete Arentz, Todd Lemke, Heath Weissenberger and Mark Bornitz.
