May 29, 2004;  West Salem, WI - Kevin Nuttleman captured his first win of the season in the NASCAR Kwik Trip Late Model Division. Starting sixth, Nuttleman patiently bided his time, slowly moving up until he was able to move to the inside of rookie Sam Andersen on lap 14 of the Johnsonville Bratwurst 25.

Photo Highlights Kevin Nuttleman (#4) scored his first Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model feature victory of the 2004 season at the LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. Tom Thill was the man to catch this evening in the Ray Hutson Chevrolet Sportsman feature contest.

Nuttleman held off a late charge by Steve Holzhausen, who moved to the inside on the last corner but ended up just a few feet short at the finish line. Teammates Charlie Menard and Andy Burgess were third and fourth, with Mark Lamoreaux rounding out the top five.

Andersen, who started on the outside pole, raced door to door with polesitter Todd Oliver for the first four laps. Andersen took the inside line going into the first turn to take the lead, which he held until being passed by Nuttleman.

Two caution flags slowed the field, on lap seven when Curt Eckelberg and Troy Goodenough made contact and on lap 14 when Andy Niles spun.

Burgess was fast timer in the Late Model Division, with a lap of 97.290 MPH. Holzhausen qualified second, followed by Nuttleman, Menard and Lamoreaux.

Preliminary qualifying heat race wins went to Todd Korish and Eckelberg, while Lamoreaux and Mike Belling took the Bud Dash checkered flags. Kevin Eddy took the win in the B-Feature.

In the Ray Hutson Chevrolet Sportsman feature race, Tom Thill started on the pole and led every lap in capturing his first feature win of the season in the Johnsonville 15. Jimmy Gilster made a late pass to take second place, followed by Randy Steinhoff, Larry Bolster, Jr. and Rick Shisler.

A six car accident brought out the yellow flag on lap 5, when Daniel Linnehan made hard contact with the turn four wall. Also involved in the incident were Scott Beckler, Jeff Baker, Aaron Hass, Chris Skrede and Bill Miller. All but Miller and Linnehan were able to continue. On the ensuing restart, Jake Arneson crashed hard into the turn one wall, bringing out another caution flag and ending his evening.

Skrede was the fast timer in the Sportsman Division. His lap of 86.919 MPH narrowly edged out Jimmy Gilster by five hundreths of a second. Mike Albrecht, Jr; Jeff Baker and Chand Wehling rounded out the top five.

Sportsman qualifying heat race winners were Nicholas Schroeder and Arneson. Jes Tenner and Bolster, Jr. won the Bud Dashes, while Tony Leis won the B-Feature.

Robert Stanfield took the feature win in the United Auto Supply Thunderstox Division. The win capped a good night for Stanfield as he earlier won his heat race as well. Craig Chandler originally crossed the finish line first, but was disqualified following post race inspection, giving Stanfield the win. Lonnie Klonecki, Jason Pulham, Charles Vian and Lester Stanfield rounded out the top five.

Thunderstox heat winners were Vian, Klonecki, Robert Stanfield and Steve Scholze. Matt Inglett took the Bud Dash while Shane Ulvestad won the Thunderstox B-Feature.

The Features Sports Bar and Grill Hornets Division was in action for the second time this season as well. Feature race winners in the Hornets Division were Jerrod Loging, Pete Arentz and Nicki Hagen. Heat race wins went to Arentz, Hagen, Jared Heaney and Mike Carlson.
