April
9, 2005; West Salem, WI - Tonight was a great night to
start another season of racing at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway! With sunny skies we
had a great turn out at the track for a night of bumper to bumper racing. The evening did
not fall short of side by side racing with a few collisions to report in.
Mark Lamoreaux stole the spot in victory lane with an impressive win in
the Late Model Feature. The battle between Troy Goodnough, Mark Lamoreaux, and Kevin
Nuttleman was an impressive one with not much room to give. It was door handle to door
handle racing throughout the entire strech of all the newly painted late models.
To start off the racing action there was a caution on lap 2 of race with a spin out of car
99 driven by Kraig Burrows. Back to green flag racing the race was still on for that
number one spot with a strong battle. Todd Korish, J. Herbst, Todd Oliver, and Tom
McClintock were a few of the heavy battlers. Lap nine had another caution in turn four
involving Andy Niles.
Lap twenty-three had one more caution come out with Troy Goodnough as the
race leader. This time Todd Oliver and Jim Hagel got tangled on the backstretch. On the
green the battle was still out for the win. With just two laps to go, Mark Lamoreaux was
out race winner.
Our quick qualifier of the evening was Steve Holzhausen at a speed of
98.902 miles per hour. Quinn Arnoldy, Jim Hagel, Steve Holzhausen, and Bill Niles
were all able to take away heat race wins. The semi feature was won by Kraig Burrows.
Another tight race tonight with the Sportsman Division Feature racing. Randy Steinhoff was
able to take the win with a never ending battle on the track. Randy Steinhoff, Jimmy
Gilster, and Trent Boettcher all tight competitors for this tight racing action! Michael
Albrecht and Randy Steinhoff were also involved in trading leadership for a few laps as
well. While holding off a close field it was Randy Steinhoff who ended up having an
exciting finish to his night.
Lucas Korish, Boomer Olsen, Larry Bolster, and Michael Albrecht were all able to take away
heat race wins. Korish was able to make his way seemlessly through the pack in order to
take home a finish. Our semi-feature winner, Ken Lewis, was able to hold off the pack to
take home victory.
The Thunderstock Feature was no let down either as the racing began with a
little bit of three wide racing going on into the corner. Mary Schill, Ron Heller, and Ed
Senn had a close race. The 19 car of Andy Moore worked his way through the field to take
an impressive third place win. In the end it was Mary Schill that would win her spot in
victory lane.
Heat race winners of the evening were Charlie Vian, Tony Wheeler, Joey Johnson, Lonnie
Klonecki, and Jerry Aylsworth. The semi-feature winner of the evening was taken by none
other than Jamie Dummer. The Thunderstock Dash winner was Andy Moore.
