LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway Race Report

The 36th Annual Oktoberfest races come to an end on Sunday!

(West Salem, WI - Sunday, October 9, 2005) - The closing day of the 36th annual Oktoberfest races provided lots of exciting race features for everyone here. They ran the ARTGO/ Wisconsin Late Models, amd the La Crosse Late Models. We also had lots of racing action from the Big 8 Series and the Modified Cars. On of our biggest winners this weekend was Charlie Menard winning 3 of his feature races.

The ARTGO/ Wisconsin Late Model feature 100 was a battel for every position down to the end. The winner of the ARTGO/ Wisconsin Late Model feature sunday afternoon was Steve Holzhausen, second went to Brian Hoppe and third went to Jeremy Lepak. Holzhausen was able to take control of the race from Hoppe at the midway point of the race. There were a number of cautions on lap number 43 Landon Cassill hit the wall out of corner number one, and on the we had a four car pile up on the front strech involving Matt Kocorek, Jacob Humphrey, Jonathon Eilen and Chad Walen. Once they cleaned up the numerious car parts left on the track we had 16 cars left in the field for the restart. All the remaning drivers provided and exciting end to the race weekend.

The La Crosse Late Model Feature 50 race went to Charlie Menard, this is this 6th Oktoberfest race win. Menard and Lamoreaux batteled for the lead position for the whole race but Menard was able to hold him off for the win. In second place was Mark Lamorearux and Dan Steele in third. There were two new drivers in the pack on sunday they were Skyler Holzhausen and Danielle Neary. Skyle is just 16 years old , Skyler was also racing against his dad Steve Holzhausen. There were a number of cautions sunday afternoon none of which were major.

The Big 8 Series was a new addition of the Oktoberfest race weekend line up, the points winner for the Big 8 series was Jon Reynolds Jr. from, Roscoe, IL. The Big 8 Feature winner was Mike Beyer, Bobby Wilberg took second and Tony Bagstad followed him into a third place finish. There was one big accident on the backstrech going into corner three involving Todd Oliver, Justin Switlick, Jim Jarlsberg.

Sunday Afternoon we also had the Modified Feature 25 laps, the winner in the racing division was Richard Snyder, Roy Aitchson in second and Dale Prunty in third. Snyder who won the race with his 600 horse-powered engine is from Alexandria, MN.
