Holzhausen becomes third driver to take La Crosse checkererd flag!

April 30, 2005;  West Salem, WI - Steve Holzausen became the third different driver to take the feature win in the Kwik Trip late model division on Saturday night, as former points leader Mark Lamoreaux was unable to pass post-race inspection after crossing the finish line first.

Holzhausen outgunned Troy Goodenough at the start,and built a big lead as Goodenough tried unsuccessfully to hold on to the number two spot. Sam Andersen, took second briefly on lap seven, before Lamoreaux moved by three laps later, and began to chase down Holzhausen.

The task became easier on lap 12, when Chris Skrede spun on the frontstretch, hitting the outside wall and bringing out the first of three caution flags. Lamoreaux set Holzhausen up on the restart, and motored to the lead on lap 15, holding off the veteran Holzhausen to the checkered. With the disqualification, Holzhausen claimed the win, followed by Andy Burgess, Andersen, Kevin Nuttleman and Todd Korish. Goodenough was sixth, followed by Brent Kirchner, Mike Belling, Tony Bagstad and Tim Nelson.

Burgess and Nuttleman made late charges to get their top-five finishes, with Nuttleman taking over the points lead from Lamoreaux by finishing fourth. Holzhausen sits second in poins, 18 points behind 8-time track champ Nuttleman, with Burgess third, six points back of Holzhausen.
Mike Belling held off a last-lap challenge to win the B-feature, while Andy Burgess was fast timer with a 98.505 MPH lap around the 5/8-mile oval. John Towner and Andy Niles took qualifying heat wins, while Bud Dash victories went to Steve Holzhausen and Jeff Baker. The dash win for Baker was his first-ever in a late model for the two-time sportsman track champ.

Jerimy Wagner got by Chad Rosendahl at the start of the Ray Hutson Chevrolet, and held off a last-lap run by Tom Thill to take the feature. Thill's run ended when he and third-place Tony Leis touched on the backstretch, allowing Wagner to pull away for the win. Thill was second, followed by Leis, Trent Boettcher, and Larry Bolster, Jr.

Rookies Matt Inglett and Emily Sue Steck paced the field in the B-feature, with Inglett taking the checkered. Jarrod Loging and Dan Linnehan took heat wins, while the Bud Dash checkers went to Aaron Hass and John Olson. Jes Tenner was fast qualifier for the third week in a row, with an average speed of 88.878 MPH.

Ray Berkum led for two-thirds of the United Auto Supply Thunderstox feature, but after losing the lead, was involved in a last-lap spin as he fell to tenth. Ben Allen claimed the win, followed by Robert Stanfield, Andy Moore, Adam Moore and Steve Bornitz.

Charlie Vian won the B-Feature, while Rusty Winchel came home the victor in the Bud Dash. Heat wins went to Tom Phillips, Ben Allen, Ray Burkum and John Rinartz. Branden Berg won the School Bus race.
This Saturday night Christen Farm Nursery presents all three divisions of action, with all escorted ladies being admitted to the speedway at no charge. action gets underway at 7:30 p.m., with qualifying for the sportsman and late model divisions beginning at 5:05 p.m.
