Dick Trickle To Compete In ARTGO 'Reunion 100' at Oktoberfest

West Salem, Wisconsin (September 23, 2005)- Seven time ARTGO Challenge Series champion Dick Trickle will return to the LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway for the first time in over a dozen years to compete in the ARTGO 'Reunion 100' on Sunday afternoon October 9th.

The event is the wrap-up to the 36th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend and also marks the 30th Anniversary of the ARTGO Racing Promotions, a traveling series of late model stock car special events founded by Art Frigo in 1975 and purchased by John and Sue McKarns in 1979. Frigo, the McKarnses and many 'retired' ARTGO 'stars' will also be attendance on Sunday.

Besides practice, qualifying and racing in the ARTGO 'Reunion 100' Trickle will also serve as the Grand Marshall for Saturday night's featured NASCAR AutoZone 200.

Over 500 cars, are expected throughout the weekend competing in 15 different divisions. There are six late model classes.

The legendary Wisconsin Rapids driver won the ARTGO titles in 1977, 79, 80, 83, 84, 85 and 87 and he won the traditional Oktoberfest event in 1971 and 1987. In 1989 Trickle became the oldest Winston Cup Rookie of the Year at age 48.

Over-all he has raced in 303 Cup races and 158 Busch Series events.Trickle now resides in Iron Station, North Carolina.

"I'm bringing a good car with the new soft spring, big bar setup," Trickle explained, "We led briefly at Milwaukee with this car before the sway bar adjuster backed off."

Trickle will meet the fans and campers Friday night after the races in the Big Red Barn near the center of the Fairgrounds.

The ARTGO Challenge Series ran 330 events at 37 different paved tracks in the Midwest from 1975 through 1997. In 1998 the series name was licensed to NASCAR and became known as the RE/MAX Challenge Series. It is now known as the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Midwest Series.
