(West Salem, WI – June 24, 2006) - Saturday evening’s racing program at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway was well underway when the heavy rains arrived. For the third consecutive week, weather was an issue with the racing program.

However, unlike the past two weeks, the Clason Pontiac-Buick-GMC night at the races was not able to be completed. “With the length of time that the rain lasted, and the time it would have taken to dry the track, we would have been racing at least until midnight,” commented race director Jeff Garbers. “It also looked like there was more rain on the way, and we were not sure that we could even get the remaining races completed,” concluded Garbers.

Fans arrived early for the annual on-track Fan-Photo Driver Autograph Session. Many of the race teams and their sponsors had candy and great prizes to give away during the autograph session. Once the racing began, there were many exciting moments. A few incidents during the Sportsman and Thunderstox Heat Races brought the fans to their feet, prior to the heavy rains.

Racing will continue with a double-header next weekend, Saturday, July 1st – featuring the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Models, the Ray Hutson Chevrolet Grand National Sportsmen, and United Auto Supply Thunderstox. Plus a Huge Fireworks Extravaganza! The Second leg of the weekend duo is Monday, July 3rd, for the Night of Thrills – featuring Monster Truck Mayhem, Thunderstox, Hornets, a race in Total Darkness and another Huge Fireworks Extravaganza.
