(West Salem, WI - September 2, 2006)
- Steve Carlson won the DODGE 100 Saturday night at the La
Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. Carlson, who started 8th in the race,
didn’t seem likely to win until after the halfway break at lap 50,
but whatever he did to the car was exactly what it needed to become
the fastest car on the track. Carlson, chasing down leader Charlie
Menard, who seemed unbeatable at the half way point, motored down
and passed leader Menard with about 35 laps to go. Charlie Menard
finished 2nd, Mark Lamoreaux 3rd, Steve Holzhausen 4th, and Andy
Burgess rounded out the top five.
Kevin Nuttleman finished 7th to win 2006 Kwik Trip
NASCAR Late Model Division Championship for a stunning 10th time.
Nuttleman came into Saturday night’s race just 24 points ahead of
Andy Burgess, and finished only 21 points behind. The closest point
race was between Burgess and Bloomington, MN’s, Mark Lamoreaux, who
were separated by only 10 points at the beginning of Saturday night.
Lamoreaux narrowed that down to a 4 point lead by taking the fast

Branden Berg, took take an early lead during lap 2 of the race, then
held off a late challenge by Jimmy Gilster to win. Jimmy Gilster,
Aaron Hass, Jes Tenner, and Trent Boetcher finished in the top five
in the race.
Points leader John Olson finished 10th , allowing 2nd in points
Trent Boettcher to close the points gap to 11 points going in to the
last race which will be held at the Oktoberfest Race Weekend, Oct.

Thunderstox division. Secor, who started on the pole, held off what
seemed like the entire field to win the Thunderstox race Saturday
night. Kris Buldhaupt, Matt Inglett, Charles Vian, and Jake Krueger
completed the top five for Saturday’s race.

to the last possible race, with only 24 points separating the top

Aylsworth (1133) Ron Heller (1132), and Charles Vian Jr. (1131) are
