LaCrosse Sets Oktoberfest and Opening Dates!

January 6, 2006;  West Salem, WI  - The 2006 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series season will roar to life on Saturday night April 15th at the LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. Speedway Officials are preparing for another year of topnotch racing action and have added some exciting new events to the schedule. "Like many race fans, we are anxiously awaiting the first night of competition" stated speedway Operations Director Dave Noelke. "We expect to see some very tight competition in all five of our divisions. Including our new division, the "Tuners". In addition, we have also improved our schedule by adding a fan favorite event (the CRASH O RAMA in May) and three "Street Drag" events". According to Noelke, the race fans are in for a heck of a battle for all five track championships. "With the level of competition and favorable car counts, the caliber of racing action will be intense from the first green flag on April 15 until the last regular event on September 2".

The Saturday night race card will again see the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Models, Ray Hutson Chevrolet Grand National Sportsman and United Auto Supply Thunderstox. In addition to the speedway’s three main divisions, fans will be treated each race night with one of the popular Thunderstox novelty events or the see the Hornet division competing. On selected nights, the speedway’s newest division, the "Tuners" will also compete. The Tuners are front wheel drive six cylinder cars that are similar to the Thunderstox. In addition to the Tuners, the speedway will be scheduling three "Street Drag" events. "At the request of several local car clubs and fans, we also plan on hosting "Street Drags" commented Noelke. Street Drags are "drag races" on the front stretch and pit road of the speedway. They are organized like a typical drag race, however all cars must be street legal and driven to the speedway. "Street Drags are very popular at other speedway’s and this style of racing is now working its way into the Midwest" added Noelke.

The 2006 schedule will include many of the favored traditional special events, including the Fair Time 50 on July 15, the Trailer Race of Destruction on July 29, the Labor Day 100, Eve of Destruction Sept. 9 and the Oktoberfest Race Weekend- Oct 5-6-7-8.

Racing will begin at 7:15 for the Saturday night programs and qualifying is slated at 5:45 PM. For more information about the 2006 racing season call the speedway's 24 hour HOTLINE at (608) 786-1525 or visit our web site at www.lacrossespeedway.com
