Holzhausen then had to hold off the advances of Andy Burgess
(2nd) and Kevin Nuttleman (3rd) through two restarts.
Holzhausen was able to stay out front to take the checkered
flag. In a post-race interview Holzhausen said “I wasn’t
able to practice earlier today so we went with our practice
setup tonight. I’m just happy it worked and to be in victory
lane.”
For the drivers who were faced with the challenge of
having to weave through the traffic to get to the front
faced a difficult task. Steve Carlson started in the middle
of the field and was able to move through the pack with
teammate Kevin Nuttleman, who started in front of Carlson.
On lap 11 a caution came out for Matthew Henderson(19th),
who spun on the backstretch. By that time Nuttleman was to
fourth and Carlson was in sixth. Another caution came out
with eight laps to go for another spin involving Matthew
Henderson, Jim Hagel (21st), and Bill Niles (22nd). With
five to go both Nuttleman and Carlson had moved up a spot.
The final caution of the night was brought out when Emily
Sue Steck (23rd) spun and hit the wall going into turn one
on the last lap. Andy Burgess moved into his 2nd place
finishing spot with ten laps to go and was able to hold on
to the position through the last two restarts. Mark
Lamoreaux, who was battling with the front four all night,
was able to hold on to a 5th place finish.
Ken Lewis also won from to pole; making this win his
second feature win of the season in the North Country
Contractors Sportsmen division. Lewis was able to pull away
from the rest of the pack quickly along with Dan Gilster who
finished 2nd. With the leaders ten car lengths ahead, the
battle seemed to be for the third position. With four laps
to go Lucas Korish was fighting hard to keep the third
position from Jerimy Wagner, but Wagner was able to get
around him and cross the finish line 3rd. Korish followed in
the 4th position and Rick Schermerhorn finished 5th.
Joey Johnson won the United Auto Supply Thunderstox
feature. He was the third driver of the night to win from
the pole. He battled side by side all night with Adam Moore.
With just a few laps to go a caution was brought out when
Mike Olson (19th) spun in front of the leaders in the middle
of turns three and four. Moore was able to cross the finish
line in front of Johnson, but post-race circumstances caused
him to have to forfeit the win. Therefore, Johnson was
declared the official winner. Keith Larson (2nd), Danielle
Neary (3rd), Bill Inglett (4th), and Matt Cleveland (5th)
rounded out the top five.
