Gilster Wins His Second Feature of the Season
By: Ashley Iwanski

Tuesday, July 3, 2007 (West Salem, WI) – Dan Gilster won his second feature race of the season Tuesday in the Kwik Trip 20 lap North Country Contractors Sportsmen race. Gilster started in the seventh position and very quickly moved his way to the front. By lap two he was up to the forth position and then passed Jes Tenner (7th) for third. Three laps later Gilster was racing side by side with Nick Clements for second. He then passed Clements on the outside and started to close the gap between himself and leader Randy Humfeld (2nd).

With only two laps to go Gilster and Humfeld were battling for the lead when Gilster got a good run coming off of turn two and passed Humfeld on the outside along the backstretch. Gilster was then able to hold on to the lead for the checkered flag.

The race got a late start after the ASA Midwest Tour feature was completed due to rain, but kept the fans excited and on their feet throughout. On the first lap Jimmy Gilster (15th), who started in the second position, quickly fell off pace. Three laps later the 2 car of Greg Scheck (18th) and the 71 car of Troy Rave (21st) spun along the front stretch bringing out the first caution of the night. On the restart Justin Berg (25th) and Jerimy Wagner (24th) fell off the pace. Wagner’s car stopped in the backstretch and the second and final caution of the night was brought out. There was then a three way battle for third. Clements, Larry Bolster Jr. and Aaron Hass were nose to tail and side by side for the last six laps of the race. In the end it would be Clements 3rd, Bolster Jr. 4th and Hass finishing 5th.
