At the half way point he passed Andy Burgess (Fall Creek, Wi.)
on the inside taking over third. From then on out it was a
game of cat and mouse to catch then leader Mike Carlson
(West Salem, Wi.). Carlson started to pull away but each
time he got a good cushion a caution came out bring the
field back to him. Lamoreaux took the lead with seven to go
when Carlson got loose and spun in the middle of turns three
and four. On the last lap Steve Carlson, who was running
second, got a good run and pulled up beside the leader.
Lamoreaux then hung back a little to get a good run out of
turn four then shot to the front for a finish that had the
crowd on their feet. Steve Carlson finished 2nd, Burgess
3rd, Todd Korish 4th, and Skylar Holzhausen 5th.
The night was filled with excitement for the Late Model
series. Steve Holzhausen qualified second at the beginning
of the night, but was later disqualified and had to race his
way back into the feature, where he started in the back. By
lap twenty he had moved his way into the top ten, but had to
go to the pits the next lap for a broken axle that brought
out the first caution of the race. Holzhausen had one of his
worst races of the season finishing in the 23rd position.
Skylar Holzhausen (Steve Holzhausens son) and Mike Carlson,
two of the series youngest drivers, both had great starting
positions with Holzhausen on the pole and Carlson starting
4th. Carlson led most of the race then ended up going to the
back of the field after his spin and finishing 16th. Skylar
Holzhausen, on the other hand, was forced out of the draft
quickly then fell back to about the eighth position where he
stayed up until the end of the race when he rallied back for
a top five finish.
Chad Rosendahl of Houston, Minn. won the North Country
Contractors Sportsmen feature by holding off fellow
Minnesotan Mike Albrecht Jr. Both had been absent most of
the year, but their one-two finish proves they can still be
contenders for a win any given week. On the first lap of the
race rookie Rick Schermerhorn tried to advance his position
a spot but fell back to seventh making room for Jes Tenner
to move into the top five. By lap six Rosendahl began to
pull away from the rest of the field. With only four to go
lap traffic slowed the leader and Albrecht was able to catch
up to him. In the end though, it was Rosendahl who walked
away with the win. Albrecht finished 2nd, Jerimy Wagner 3rd,
Tenner 4th, and last weeks winner Dan Gilster 5th.
Jake Krueger got his third feature win of the season in the
United Auto Supply Thunderstox division. He started fourth
and within three laps had moved his way up to second to
battle for the lead. After a few spins, but no cautions,
Krueger was in the lead. There was then a five way battle
for the fifth position running three wide through the
corners. Both Josh Inglett (9th) and Ben Allen were involved
and Allen eventually edged over the others to finish 5th.
John Huebner walked away with a 2nd place finish while Mike
Olson finished 3rd and Steven Rusch finished 4th.
The next three Saturdays will all consist of regular series
