Korish Proves to be a Contender at LaCrosse
By: Ashley Iwanski

Saturday, May 12, 2007 (West Salem, WI) –
Todd Korish won the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model Christen Farm Nursery Feature after a crash in turn one of the first lap caused a complete restart of the race. This was his second feature win of the season, marking the first time he has one two feature races in one season… in any division. Korish started in fifth and was able to get to third by lap four.

Photo Highlights

On lap eight he took the lead from Brent Kirchner (9th) and held on to it for the win. Kevin Nuttleman and Steve Carlson engaged in a seven lap battle for second. Despite all of Carlson’s efforts Nuttleman, who is leading the point standings, was able to hold on for a 2nd place finish. Last week’s feature winner Carlson finished 3rd.

The caution on lap one was the only caution of the feature. As soon as the green flag dropped Todd Oliver (16th) started to get loose as cars checked up behind him causing him to spin. Most of the back half of the field was involved. All except three cars finished the race with minimal to no damage. Bill Niles (23rd) came back out on to the track and finished 10 laps down. Jim Hagel (25th) and Tim Nelson (24th) had severe damage to their cars and were unable to finish the race.
Ken Lewis won the North Country Contractors Sportsmen Division race, presented by Christen Farm Nursery.

The Sportsmen Feature also had a complete restart due to a crash when the green flag dropped. Rob Curran (14th) and Rob Mason both spun on the front stretch. Mason was in second at the time but finished 16th. Lewis made his way to the front in three laps and held on to the lead until the race was red flagged with four laps to go due to rain. An attempt was made at restarting the race but the track was too wet. Branden Berg finished 2nd and Jes Tenner, who is third in the point standings, finished 3rd.

The United Auto Supply Thunderstox division was able to race between the red flag and the call of the Sportsmen race. Brad Warthan, who started third, moved up to second within the first lap to battle Chris Weber for the lead. Weber, a rookie this year, crossed the line first but was disqualified for car height, making Warthan the winner. Andy Barney, Matt Inglett, Adam Moore, and Shane Ulvestad round out the top five.

Next Saturday Pischke Motors presents a full program of Late Model, Sportsmen and Thunderstox action. The Thunderstox drivers will be battling for the second place position in the second over the line wins novelty race. On Friday, May 25 is the 2nd annual Smash O’ Rama, which includes Monster Truck Mayhem, Fireworks, Hornets, Thunderstox, Tough Trucks and more.
