By: Ashley Iwanski

Saturday, May 26, 2007 (West Salem, WI) – Midwestern ace Steve Carlson won his third Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model race of the 2007 season at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. Carlson was the fastest qualifier of the night, and started in the 10th position for the main event. He quickly moved his way through the field and was up to fifth by lap 8. The front five quickly broke away from the rest of the field and Carlson began to pick off the leaders one by one.

By the last lap he caught up to leader Todd Korish and passed him on the outside going into turn three for the win.

Korish, who finished 2nd, took the lead early in the race and held on to it until Andy Burgess (4th) passed him midway through. The only caution of the night was on lap 4. Mike Carlson and last week’s winner Shawn Pfaff spun in turn three. Mike Carlson (26th) went to the pits and Pfaff (17th) was sent to the back of the field for the restart. Kevin Nuttleman finished 3rd for the second week in a row and Mark Lamoreaux finished 5th.

Todd Lockington won the North Country Contractors Sportsmen LaCrosse Tribune 15. He started on the pole and managed to keep the lead throughout the race to take the checkered flag. The one caution of the race was on lap five when multiple cars got together coming out of turn one sending Larry Bolster Jr. (9th) and Nick Clements (14th) to the back of the field. Branden Berg finished in the 2nd position and Jerimy Wagner finished 3rd. Aaron Hass and Dan Gilster battled for multiple laps side by side for 4th place; Gilster took 4th and Hass finished 5th.

Jamie Dummer charged forward from a mid-pack starting position to win the United Auto Supply Thunderstox race. By lap 5 he was up to 4th and two laps later was in 2nd. Joey Johnson started on the pole and held onto the lead until Dummer passed him on the outside with three laps to go. Dummer then pulled away to hold on for the win. Johnson was later disqualified.
